All about Khaled Bichara

Khaled Bichara is the CEO of Orascom Telecom Holdings. Orascom Telecom Holding is a multilingual telecommunication company. With operators in Africa, Europe, North America and the Middle East it is considered to be one of the largest network operator in the world. The company is managed by Weather Investments S.P.A.

Khaled Bichara has been the CEO of Orascom Telecom since November 2009. The appointment was announced 8 months after Khaled Bichara’s appointment as COO. Khaled Bichara’s current appointment marks a long working relationship that has spanned 10 years since his first appointment in 2000 as the company’s Chief Internet strategist. Khaled Bichara joined the board during this period.

Mr. Khaled Bichara’s journey into the world of information technology took an notable turn in 2001 whilst working at LDN. At the time already the co-founder, CEO and chairman of the largest private internet service provider LINKdotNET (LDN), Khaled Bichara was involved in a partnership agreement that resulted in the launching of MSN Arabia, the first web portal of its kind in the region.

Khaled Bichara was also involved in the restructuring of the Italian telecommunication company WIND Telecomunicazioni. Initially appointed to head the fixed line and business unit before being promoted to the position of Chief Operating officer of the company, Khaled Bichara was vital to the revival of the company. The resurgence of the company was even more appreciative given the fact that it was accomplished in 36 months.

Alongside Khaled Bichara’s position on the board of Orascom Telecom which he has maintained since 2003, Mr. Khaled Bichara can also be found on the board of several other information Technology and communication companies. A few of these includes WIND, LDN and Tellas S.A.

Khaled Bichara belongs to the Software community found in the Middle east and is credited as being a founding member of the Internet Society of Egypt and the Egyptian Software Association. Khaled Bichara is also a member of the Egyptian Electronic Commerce Committee.

Khaled Bichara attended the American University in Cairo from which he earned a degree, majoring in Computer science and a minor in Business Administration. Khaled Bichara also participated in a number of postgraduate professional courses some of which includes the American University of Cairo, Institute of Banking and Finance: Money Markets and Investment Valuation as well as Stanford’s Executive Program for Growing Companies (EPGC).

In 2003, Khaled Bichara was named the “Young Executive of the year” by Business Today Egypt in recognition for his achievements before reaching the age of 40. Khaled Bichara was 32 at the time of the award and already the chairman of LDN as well as his ongoing professional relationship with ORASCOM and Wind Telecommunicazioni.
