In 2001, the Middle East welcomed the unveiling of the region’s very first global portal. In a significant partnership with the largest private internet service provider for the Middle East (LINKdotNET), Microsoft successfully launched the MSN Arabia experience for users. Closely linked to this successful unveiling was the co-founder and CEO and chairman of LINKdotNET, Mr. Khaled Bichara. This was hardly the first of such recorded success associated with Mr. Khaled Bichara. It certainly was not the last.
As at 2009 Mr. Khaled Bichara is the official Group Chief Executive officer of Orascom Telecom. Khaled Bichara’s appointment is just yet another notableb mark in a career that has resulted in several distinguished achievements. Over the last 15 year, Mr. Khaled Bichara has used his wealth of experience in information technology and his sharp skills in business in improving the fortune of various companies.
It was no accident that LDN was chosen as a partner for the launching of the MSN Arabia. Under the leadership of Mr. Khaled Bichara, the company quickly grew to become the largest ISP force in the region with a staff of more than 1500. The success of LDN resulted in Khaled Bichara being recognized as the “Young Executive of the year” in 2003 by the Business Today Egypt. Khaled Bichara was 32 at the time
In an interview with the vice president of the company, Business Today quotes the VP as saying that “…a big part of the story is Khaled Bichara himself.” V.P Ramy Abdallah also goes on to say that the company is able to progress because “he (Khaled Bichara) is someone with a very clear vision.”
It is this vision that telecom giants Orascom intends on harnessing. Khaled Bichara has already proven himself in the affairs of telecommunication. Alongside the success of LDN, Khaled Bichara is also recognized for his remarkable achievements whilst heading the fixed line and portal business unit found in the Italian telecommunication company Wind Telecomunicazioni.
In three years, Khaled Bichara was able to turn the company’s steady record of losses into a much greener slope. During this period Khaled Bichara was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer for the company. Currently Wind telecommunicazioni is said to be the third largest telecommunication in Italy. Khaled Bichara would years later be given a similar position at Orascom Telecom Holding.
Born in 1971, Khaled Bichara graduated from the American University in Cairo with a B.sc. Khaled Bichara is reported to have majored in computer science with a minor in business administration. Khaled Bichara also attended a number of professional courses including the “Money Markets & Investment Valuation” at the Institute of Banking and Finance and the Stanford’s Executive Program for Growing Companies (EPGC).
Khaled Bichara is a recognized and active member of the Software community in the Middle East. The foundation of the Egyptian Software Association and the Internet Society of Egypt are all accredited to him.
Khaled Bichara is the proud father of two sons and married to his beautiful wife, Marianne.
