Much has been said about Khaled Bichara but very little of can be described as bad.
Born in 1971, the story behind Khaled Bichara has been one detailing a path of success.
When asked about Khaled Bichara, Ramy Abdallah, the Vice president of corporate and international sales at LINKdotNET offered an interesting insight.
“A big part of the success story is” he said “is Khaled Bichara himself. He is someone with a very clear vision.”
Events certainly seem to confirm this.
A 1993 graduate from the American University in Cairo, Khaled Bichara majored in Computer science and Business administration. Khaled Bichara then attended a number of professional courses at different institutions one of which was the Executive Program for Growing Companies (EPGC) held at Stanford.
Khaled Bichara assumed the chairmanship of LINKdotNET a company that he cofounded. LINKdotNET was intended on being an Internet Service provider. Under Khaled Bichara’s guidance the company not only succeeded within the country, it went on to become the largest private internet service provider in the Middle East.
In 2001, Khaled Bichara took the success of LDN with the company’s partnership with Microsoft in the creation and launching of MSN Arabia. This was the first web portal experience of its kind in the region. In 2005 Khaled Bichara was appointed as the head of the fixed line and portal business in a telecommunication company Wind Telecomincazioni. Khaled Bichara was then promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2006. During this period, he was vital to the revival of the company’s productivity. By employing an effective restructuring of the company’s organization, Khaled Bichara was able to first limit the losses of the company and then convert it into profit.
In 2003, Khaled Bichara was awarded the “Young Executive of the Year Award” at the age of 32. The award was given by Business Today Egypt. Khaled Bichara also became a member of the board at Orascom Telecom within the same year—a position that he currently still maintains.
In April 2009, Khaled Bichara was appointed the Chief Operating Officer of Orascom. This position was similar to that which he had held at WIND Telecomincazioni. Khaled Bichara’a new role meant that he attended to the various departments of the company a few of which included the IT, communication, Commercial and Marketing departments. Khaled Bichara maintained this position for 8 months.
In Nov 2009, it was announced that Mr. Khaled Bichara would become the new CEO of Orascom. This promotion was amongst other things attribute to the wealth of experience which he had gained in telecommunication and information technology. It was also in recognition of Khaled Bichara’s keen eye for effective management and entrepreneurial skill.
Mr. Khaled Bichara is a member of different associations. Some of these include the Internet Society of Egypt, the Egyptian software Association and the Egyptian Electronic Committee. Khaled Bichara is recognized as a founding member of the first two. Khaled Bichara is also a member of the Software community found in the Middle East and maintains a seat on the advisory board of the computer department at the American University in Cairo.
Khaled Bichara has two sons and is married.
