Khaled Bichara was born on the 27th of July, 1971. Few might have heard of the name back then but many people are certainly familiar with it now.
A degree graduate of the American University in Cairo, Khaled Bichara is one of the leading forerunners in the world of internet and telecommunication. Khaled Bichara’s foray into the world of telecommunication was more than apparent during his period in the university. Khaled Bichara majored in computer engineering whilst doing a minor in business administration.
Since his graduation, Mr. Khaled Bichara has maintained a more than casual relationship with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering found in the University. Khaled Bichara is a valued member of the advisory board for the department from which he graduated. A known supporter of information technology, Khaled Bichara is also a founding member of the Software Association and Internet Society both of which are found in Egypt. On a broader scale, Khaled Bichara is an active member of the Middle East Software community.
The launching and growth of MSN Arabia is closely linked to the efforts of Mr. Khaled Bichara. As chairman, CEO and co-founder of the LINKdotNET (A company that grew to be the largest Internet service provider in the region) Khaled Bichara was instrumental in negotiating the partnering agreement between his company and Microsoft which resulted in the development of the first global portal of the Middle East.
Alongside these, Khaled Bichara is also credited in telecommunication circles for his amazing revival of Wind Telecomunicazioni. With dwindling sales and recorded losses, many had thought that the company would not easily recover. However, with Khaled Bichara’s position in the company as the heard of the fixed line and portable unit as well as his eventual promotion to the position of Chief Operating Officer, Khaled Bichara was able to convert the fortunes of the company in an amazing 36 months.
Since the second quarter of 2009, Khaled Bichara has been leading the affairs of Orascom Telecom Holdings as its Group Chief Operating Officer of the company. In this position, Khaled Bichara is tasked to lead the commercial, technical, IT and Marketing communication departments amongst others. Khaled Bichara’s vast experience in telecommunication as well as his entrepreneurial and business acumen is bound to provide him with invaluable insight and guidance in this new role.
The achievements of Mr. Khaled Bichara have not gone unnoticed. In 2003, at the age of 32, Khaled Bichara won the very first Business Today (Egypt) “Young Executive of the year award”. This award is intended for executives below the age of 40 who have displayed outstanding professionalism and success in their respective fields. Khaled Bichara is married and the proud father of two children.
Many have come up with different explanations for the success of Khaled Bichara. Some attribute it to his dedication whilst others comment on Khaled Bichara’s vibrant and intelligent vision.
